Almeria, Spain Cuisine | Where to Eat

Popular Local Cuisine: Almeria is part of Andalusia, the part of Spain where the cuisine is most influenced by its Arab past. Olives and tomatoes are the dominant agricultural products, while fish and shellfish play a greater role than elsewhere in Spain. Fish fried in olive oil and coated with chickpea flour is one of the areas most popular restaurant items along with Bocas de la Isla made from local crab claw meat. The local hams (jamon) are also well-regarded. As in the rest of Andalusia, Gazpacho, a fresh cold vegetable soup made with local produce is very popular in Almeria. For dessert try the sinfully delicious Pestinos, honey dipped, fried pastries.
