Ibiza is mostly known for its beach parties and youth culture, even though much of the island is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The wide variety of beaches offer lovely views, both geological and human. For historical sites there is the Phoenician settlement at Sa Caleta and the post-Islamic Old Town overlooking the harbor at Ibiza Town with the lovely Santa Maria Cathedral and the remains of protective walls. Ibiza is all about sun and sand and partying. The centers for the Ibizan party culture are Ibiza Town and, on the other side of the island in the streets and along the beach front, San Antonio.

Note about pronunciation: In Catalan, the pronunciation is commonly ay-VEE-suh. In Spanish it is ee-V(B)EE-thuh. The British commonly imitate the Spanish pronunciation and say ee-BEE-thuh or ee-VEE-thuh, while Americans tend to use a more Latin American variation and say ee-BEE-suh or ee-BEE-zuh. The bottom line is you have a lot of choices, as long as you accent the second syllable.
